Does you company offer snacks in your company wide kitchen? Are your employees constantly faced with the issue of not being able to actually consume any of these snacks because your gluten free or lactose intolerant, etc. Currently, we are finding that more and more people struggle with dietary restrictions. Whether those are towards certain fruits, nuts or larger food groups, 6 in 10 adults restrict a food or food group from their diet. That number is only increasing and it's time for our work environments to cater to these new needs.
The issue here is that many employees feel less welcome and cared for in their work environments when there are no options catering to their restrictions. In the last year intolerances to all different types of foods have increased dramatically. With the health craze taking on the world, we find more and more people are also eliminating these "bad" foods and introducing more "healthy" options so why aren't our places of work doing the same?
As a person who is both gluten intolerant and lactose intolerant I find I need to bring my own food everyday and when I don't there are few places in the area I can go to for lunch. I would personally love options that cater to my needs and feel it would increase my overall work experience. Do your employees feel the same?
